Requested library materials may be picked up or returned to the Maguire Medical Library during business hours. College of Medicine borrowers with card-swipe building access may return items in the library's book drop after hours. Additionally, except for interlibrary loan items, any item may be returned to any FSU campus library for delivery to the Maguire Medical Library.
The Maguire Medical Library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service allows library patrons to request from other libraries materials that are not available in FSU Libraries’ collections. This service expands access to resources for research and educational needs for all members of the FSU College of Medicine (FSU COM). FSU scholars not affiliated with FSU COM should refer to FSU Libraries’ ILL Services.
As the Maguire Medical Library is a digital library with a specialized collection, our ILL services prioritize fulfilling requests for electronic or digital material in the biomedical, behavioral, and life-sciences subject areas.
ILL services for the College of Medicine are provided through two separate systems: UBorrow and Maguire Medical Library ILL. UBorrow is operated by FSU Libraries as part of Florida’s State University System (SUS) and allows users to borrow print materials from libraries across the state; additional information on UBorrow is available on the FSU UBorrow page. Maguire Medical Library ILL permits users to borrow materials from libraries across the country, with a concentration in other medical libraries and electronic requests.
For questions or assistance with ILL requests, please contact ILL services at: medlibrary@med.fsu.edu.
Library Express Delivery Service (LEDS) delivers FSU Libraries’ materials for current FSU faculty members, graduate students, and staff. The Maguire Medical Library is a designated pickup location.
Read more about LEDS, including how to register, access collections, and request library materials for pickup or delivery.
While every effort will be made to fulfill all ILL requests, some materials are not available to request from lending libraries for a variety of reasons. Below is a list of the most denied materials for ILL requests:
Failure to comply with the Maguire Medical Library’s ILL policies, or to pay any fines/fees levied on ILL items, may result in temporary suspension of ILL privileges, library account restrictions, and/or a complete loss of ILL privileges.
Please contact the Maguire Medical Library Interlibrary Loan Department directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding ILL services or your account.
The Maguire Medical Library does not offer public patron, or general use, printer/copier machines or services at this time. COM students are expected to use the dedicated copier/printer in their assigned LC Room. COM faculty & staff are expected to employ their departmental copier/printer. OIT should be contacted for assistance if there are any issues/problems with a copier/printer.
*Please be aware that the medical library staff reserves the right to limit or deny color prints/copies; black & white prints/copies may be provided instead.
